Mariah Carey is giving fans an update on her previously delayed album.

In a letter to fans posted to her Facebook page, the singer writes that she's preparing to reveal new details about its release "very soon."

Mariah says that fans will soon understand why she felt the need to hold the album back, calling it "one of the most important albums" of her career.

The 43-year-old also opens up about the shoulder injury she suffered while filming a music video back in July.  She calls the injury "the toughest experience of [her] life," but assures fans that after three months of intense physical therapy, she is "on [her] way to a full recovery."

She adds that her doctors "can't believe" she's recovered so quickly as it "should have taken eight months."
